Aura nightclub seizes 32 fake IDs From News Shopper

Six passports and 26 driving licences, UK identification cards and student union cards were confiscated by door staff at Aura nightclub in the town centre over the Christmas period.

Aura manager Stuart Hayles said: « We are extremely vigilant about underage drinking. fake id When presented with identification we will often ask for other documentation to be provided to back it up.

« More often than not we find the ID produced by an individual may be the only documentation they carry with those details on and they may have several other forms of identification which reveal

their true identity. »

He added: « We work closely with the police on this matter and seize any false identification presented to us. »

PC Madley said: « Chepstow is a very safe place to live but it’s important residents and visitors feel safe too. The sight of underage drinkers in the town can often undermine feelings of safety and

that’s why we’re determined to crack down on this type of behaviour.

« We are working very closely with local pubs and clubs and many have signed up to a Pubwatch scheme which means we can speak directly with each other via a radio system. This shows a real team

effort in stopping this type of behaviour. »

The passports and driving licences are being returned to the Home Office and DVLA, filltrustid in accordance with new laws which rule the attempted use of someone else’s ID a « security risk ».
